all-star "vote for change" show sells out in 30 minutes

The Washington Vote For Change concert featuring Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam, REM, James Taylor, John Fogerty, Dixie Chicks and John Mellencamp, sold out in just 30 minutes when tickets went on saleTuesday.

13 acts will perform at the show in the US capital on October 11 to urge voters to toss out President Bush.

"The upcoming election provides everyone an opportunity to change the direction our country is headed and to elect a government that is just, rational and respectful of the views and rights of the people it serves," said Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam.

Jurassic 5, Keb Mo and Babyface will also perform on the bill.

"The power of music is coming to Washington to liven the political debate about the need to change the direction of our country. This will be the grand finale to inspire and reinvigorate the democratic political world before we head into the final weeks of the campaign," said Ellen Malcolm, President of ACT.

The final show for Vote For Change takes place at the MCI Center in Washington on October 11.

Prior to that, the artists will perform their own shows across America as part of the anti-Bush rally.
